I've uploaded this photo today because it occured to me that some foreigners may be reading this humble photoblog of mine.
The thing in the photo is something we Singaporeans eat during our Chinese New Year. We call it 'Lou Hei', which is 'scoop up high'. Familes & friends gather around a dish of shredded vegetables coloured artifically to give it a colourful feel, topped with pepper, sour plum sauce, honey & raw sashimi. Everyone then takes a chopsticks each & engage in a massive stirring exercise to mix all the ingredients together, while saying auspicious words of blessings for the new year.
This is pretty interesting, isn't it? I think it's unique to Singapore & possibly Malaysia only. :)
